Landsome Roses Cover Reveal

Before the Landsome series, I’d never commissioned custom character art. Let me tell you, I was sweating while my newly-met cover designer Sofía worked on book 1. The result was a gorgeous sunset moment in a fantasy world.

For book 2, we went back and forth on two different compositions for the cover, showing Dottie and Draw either standing or sitting.

I’m endlessly happy with how the covers turned out and when it came time for book 3, Sofía and I had figured out a lot about the look of the series.

  • We preferred darker tones over light—we didn’t want to give the idea this series was too sweet.
  • The setting was an important factor in conveying the fantasy nature of this series.
  • And Sofía decided ultimately to create a personalized curved font for the title to convey the romantic quality of the series.

The Landsome Roads cover has been featured a few times by Reedsy, like on this romantasy book list.

Going into book 3, Landsome Roses, I wanted to highlight a relationship on the rocks.

No, not Dottie and Draw.

Dottie and Queen Elthra.

Landsome Roses

The ask-questions-later, fight-now hero of Landsome has always been reckless, but this time Sir Ironclaw has abducted Lord Draw to make a dangerous trade with the Dark Mage.

Dottie and Queen Elthra won’t let the men they love face danger alone, but Dottie knows the series ending hangs in a balance, turning a rescue mission into a bid for the fictional queendom’s future. When Queen Elthra discovers the lies Dottie has crafted as her magical royal advisor, the two are set at odds, even as they battle the powers of the Dark Mage and his sentient palace with an unusual hunger.

As a reader, Dottie knows how the book ends—with the death of Lord Draw. If she’s going to save him, she must put her reader knowledge to the test as the series’ biggest fan, even as the Queendom of Landsome transforms into something no reader has seen before.

This cover reveal officially kicks off the pre-order campaign for Landsome Roses. You can reserve your e-book or hardcover now on Bookshop, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or through your favorite local bookstore.

This cover moment shows Dottie and Queen Elthra just before they enter the Dark Mage’s palace. They’re tense, they have a mission to complete, and they don’t know how much they can trust each other.

Plus, these colors!
